About us

It was in 2017 that we, Ron and Ellen, and later in 2023 our son Thomas, left our lives in the Netherlands behind. We have always dreamed of a new beginning, of a place surrounded by nature, history and French culture. When we discovered Saint-Palais, a small village in the Allier, we immediately knew that this was the place where we wanted to start our new adventure. Located in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, Saint-Palais was a place that enchanted us from the moment we arrived.  La Cour d'Enchére felt good right away. The domain, located on the outskirts of Saint-Palais, dates back to 1601 and has a rich history. It was once a self-sufficient farm and owned by the same family for centuries. What made it special for us was not only the age of the house, the peace and tranquility it exudes but also its location in a region that played a prominent role in the books of the famous writer George Sand.What attracted us most, however, was the idea of building a new life in a place that would inspire us – both creatively and musically. On the edge of a small village with a rich history and a strong community. The charm of the old stone houses, the winding streets and the peaceful river that meandered through the landscape felt like a warm welcome. The peace and tranquility in an inspiring environment, the warm welcome, we are happy to share it with our guests.
